Shepard Hill Kids Care Club from Plainfield, CT. has been very busy during the month of October and the first week of November.  Using their creative energy they have brightened the lives of homeless children, veterans, and patients at a local Nursing Home.

In October children in the Kids Care Club filled large plastic pumpkins with Halloween themed masks, make-up, silly glasses, decorations, plastic cups, rings, novelties, erasers, and of course, candy.  The pumpkins were gratefully and enthusiastically received by children at the Danielson Homeless Shelter.  One of the small residents volunteered to help carry the packages in and remarked excitedly that he couldn’t wait to see what character he would be.

Residents of the Westview Nursing Care facility were the recipients of two special projects made by Shepard Hill Kids Care members.  Fall themed foam door decorations were created by the club to brighten the room doors of residents at Westview.  Members also hand painted clay pots and filled them with cheery silk flower arrangements.  These arrangements were immediately whisked away to grace the dining hall where residents admired them appreciatively.

In the beginning of November members of Kids Care created handsome wooden pins for Veterans.  The badges (brooches) were made with a wooden star carefully painted with red and white stripes.  In the middle of the star was glued a small blue wooden heart and onto that a shiny rhinestone star was set.  The pins were delivered to the Rocky Hill Veterans Hospital in Rocky Hill, CT..
