Art Class
Grade 4- Just finished
studying artist John James Audubon. Students learned watercolor techniques and
practiced painting lightly with the paint and using a lot of water. They learned
wet on wet technique and dry brush as well.
Now they are starting to learn about artist Wyland, and they are using oil pastels
to create a large under water picture that focuses on a whale, dolphin or shark.
Grade 5- Just finishing up a unit on lighthouses. They compared and contrasted
art by artist Edward Hopper and Winslow homer. Then they created a work of art
that focuses on a lighthouse in a seascape. They continued their previous knowledge
of using watercolors, and controlling the brush and the paints. Mixing colors,
wet on wet and dry brush were explored.
