Fifth Grade Transition Information
April 18, 2017
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Plainfield Central Middle School. As your child prepares to transition into the middle school level, we wish to inform you of several important dates that have been planned.
Please join us on Parent Informational Night to be held on Tuesday, May 9th @ 5:30 p.m. in our school’s cafeteria. This evening will allow the building administration to provide information about our school, the middle school years and the numerous educational and extracurricular opportunities for your child. We also plan to share the many ways to establish and maintain communication between home and school.
Our middle school counselors are scheduled to visit each class at Plainfield Memorial School during the months of May and June. Included in this visit will be a presentation of common questions and answers provided by current middle school students.
In early June, all grade five students are scheduled to visit the Central School for a walk-through of our complex. This visit allows students, along with their current classmates and teachers to receive a personal introduction to the building during regular school hours.
Looking ahead to Thursday, August 24th, from the hours of 4:30-6:30 p.m., we will be hosting a Grade Six Meet and Greet. Incoming grade six students (Purple team @ 4:30 and Yellow Team @ 5:30) and their parents/guardians will receive an orientation to the building from the administrative, support, and teaching staff. Student schedules are slated to be mailed out in mid-August and this is how you’ll know which team your child has been assigned. This orientation will benefit the students in a variety of ways. First and foremost, only incoming grade six students will have access to our orientation, which creates a personal connection with our school team. Secondly, classroom visitations with our 6th grade teaching staff will take place. Thirdly, school-wide tours will be provided and locker practice can and usually does occur.
We look forward to meeting you and working with you and your children during your Plainfield Central Middle School “Royal” years.
