Cougar Times

From the Desk of Mrs. Hutchinson

Dear Families,

This month we have been busy at Plainfield Memorial School.  During our Professional Learning Day faculty and staff had the opportunity to use technology that is available for our   students.  During the next month, we hope to have each class use the Google Chromebook in their classrooms. Many    classes have already used this technology.  Our students are then teaching the other students in other classes.  Students will be able to access their google accounts from home.    Students will build their familiarity with the technology by    accessing math practice sites, word document applications as well as using teacher approved web sites for research.

Our students are also finishing up the first Unit of Study in  writing.  Students have been setting goals for writing as well as writing narrative pieces.  Ask your child what their piece of writing is about.

During the month of November our Student Council will be collecting non-perishable items for Project Pin.  Collection dates are November 9th– 20th.  Together we can make a difference in our community.

This month students at PMS listened to literature with the theme of accepting each other’s differences.  Classes read The Hundred Dresses, Each Kindness as well as Dr. Seuss’ Sneetches. You will find our hallways aligned with many Sneetches.  During parent    conferences look for your child’s contribution.  Our Town Meeting had students perform Hink Pinks as well musical numbers.

I hope to see everyone at Parent Conferences on November 3rd.  You should be very proud of the hard work your child does daily at P.M.S.  I know our  teachers are excited to share this with you.

 Your partner in education,

Natasha Hutchinson, Principal
